Frequently asked questions
Which pattern files are supported?
StitchTracker opens OXS charts (Open Cross Stitch).
How do I add a pattern?
Tap + on the main screen, or open an .oxs file from Files, iCloud, AirDrop or an email attachment and choose “Open in StitchTracker”.
Does it sync between my devices?
Yes. Patterns kept in iCloud sync through your private iCloud database — no account with us, no third-party server. If a pattern is open on one device, it opens read-only on the other until you put it down, so no stitch is ever lost.
Where is my backup?
Your projects and progress are covered by your iPad/iPhone’s standard iCloud Backup (enable it in iOS Settings) and return automatically on a new device. You can also export any project manually — as .oxs (the pattern) or .stitchx (pattern, progress and timelapse together) — from the project menu.
Does it work offline?
Yes — entirely. StitchTracker needs no internet connection and no account.
Can I change how the app looks?
Yes — pick one of four themes (Blossom, Forest, Indigo, Tweed) in Settings → Appearance. Home Screen widgets follow your theme too.
What does it require?
An iPad or iPhone running iOS 26 or later.
I found a problem with a pattern
Some OXS files contain duplicated or overlapping data. StitchTracker validates files on import and can auto-fix common issues. If something still looks wrong, email us the file and we’ll take a look.
